Har Ki Dun Trekking Route and Experience
The Har ki Dun trek begins at Sankri (1,950 m), the base camp, from where trekkers drive to Taluka (2,100 m). From Taluka, a 12 km trek through dense forests of pine, walnut, and chestnut leads to Osla (2,590 m), a charming Himalayan village known for its unique wooden architecture and ancient temples.
The trail from Osla to Har Ki Dun (3,566 m) is filled with breathtaking landscapes, including lush green meadows, cascading streams, and snow-capped peaks. One can spot Himalayan monals, golden eagles, and barking deer on their way. In spring, rhododendron adds vibrant colours to the landscape. The villages of Osla and Gangad offer a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of the local communities, making this trek a cultural as well as an adventurous experience.
As trekkers approach the valley, they are greeted with a fascinating view of the Swargarohini range. One can explore the pristine valley, camp near the river, and enjoy breathtaking sunrise and sunset views over the Himalayas. After spending time in this magical setting, the trek follows the same route back to Sankri.
