This expedition begins from Gangotri and after crossing two high passes, snow draped peaks and splendid steep valleys, you reach Yamunotri. Feather in the hat is that along with the difficulties of the high passes, you will be witnessing the nature at its best. The path leading towards the Dhumdharkandi Pass is adorned with lush forest and beautiful alpine meadows. These splendors of Mother Nature are stretched up to Kiyarkoti – vast grazing land.
It is not that the wonders of nature come to end at Kiyarkoti, but they touch all new horizons here. The alpine meadows of this area are bejeweled with vivid topography, at the top is the birch forest and at the bottom is the garden of boulders. From here the expedition heads off to a completely different landscape and you cross snow fields, screes, boulders and moraines for getting up at the top of the Dhumdharkandi Pass (5300 meters). Once reached, you will be welcomed by the spectacular sight of the lofty mountains, grand glaciers and wonderful valleys.
Thereafter, you will be sliding down into the Ruinsara Valley and then moving up on the top of a ridge for reaching Bali Pass, also called the Bali Udiyari (4780 meters). Herein the view of the Bandarpoonch and Swargarohini Peak will be waiting for offering a delight to your eyes, and finally you will reach to the last station of this expedition - the pious shrine at Yamunotri.
