The trek starts at Sangam Chatti with a scenic 4-km hike to Agoda (2,250 m), a small Himalayan village offering panoramic valley views. From there, the trail continues to Bebra, a peaceful camping spot with gushing waterfalls and lush greenery. In spring, Rhododendrons bloom in vibrant shades. During the trek, you have a chance to spot many birds and animals as the area is home to rare species like Himalayan monals, musk deer, and leopards.

The next stretch leads to Manjhi (3,150 m), a vast alpine meadow with breathtaking mountain views. After an overnight stay, trekkers proceed to Dodital Lake (3,024 m), a pristine high-altitude lake teeming with Himalayan golden trout. There is a Ganesha Temple near the lake, which is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Ganesha.

For those seeking a greater challenge, the trek extends to Darwa Pass (4,150 m). The steep 5-km climb rewards trekkers with 360-degree views of the Bandarpunch, Kala Nag, and Swargarohini peaks. Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Dodital is between April to June and September to November. During these months, the weather remains pleasant, the skies are clear, and the landscapes are at their most vibrant. Spring and summer bring blooming rhododendrons and lush greenery, while autumn offers crisp air and golden hues across the valley. In winter (December to February), the lake freezes, offering a magical snow trekking experience.

Dodital Trek Itinerary

Upon arrival at Delhi airport, meet our representative and transfer to the hotel for an overnight stay.

In the morning, board the Shatabdi Express for Haridwar at 06:50 hrs. Arrive in Haridwar by 11:25 hrs, where you will meet our representative and drive to Uttarkashi (approximately a 6-hour drive). Upon arrival, check in to the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Uttarkashi is a town located in the Bhagirathi Valley, known as a center for learning and spirituality since the time of the Vedas. It has been home to many famous sages and saints. The town, often compared to Kashi (Varanasi), lies next to a hill named Varunavrat Parvat and is situated on the banks of the Bhagirathi River, at an altitude of 1,158 meters. It is approximately 185 km from Rishikesh on the main route to Gangotri.

Key attractions include:

Vishwanath Temple – Dedicated to Lord Shiva, featuring the Mahadev-ka-Vishal Trishul (Shiva’s Great Trident), made of Astadhatu (eight metals). According to legend, Lord Shiva used this trident to kill Vakasur.

Other notable temples include those dedicated to Lord Parashuram, Lord Ekadash Rudra, and Goddess Kali.

After breakfast, drive 10 km to Sangam Chatti, the starting point of the trek. From here, the trail is well-marked and climbs along the true right of the valley, leading to the village of Agoda.

Continue 2 km further to Bhebra, a picturesque village set near a mountain stream, surrounded by green fields growing potatoes, beans, and Rajma (kidney beans).

A steep ascent leads to Manjhi, a scenic village set on a thickly forested mountainside. Upon arrival, relax with a warm cup of tea and rest for the night in tents. Dinner & overnight stay in tents.

Ascend along a zigzagging trail, gradually gaining altitude. Compared to the previous day's steep climb, today's trek is relatively mild.

As you trek higher, the views become increasingly spectacular, with the mountain turning into a sheer cliff face, while the Asi Ganga River appears as a thin thread snaking through the valley below. The 1,000-ft vertical drop offers an unforgettable sight.

A final descent leads to Dodital Lake (3,024 m / 9,921 ft), famous for its Brown Trout and religious significance. Overnight stay in tents or a rest house.

A day to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of Dodital Lake and its surrounding dense forests. The lake is about 1.5 km in circumference, fed by streams from Darwa Bugyal.

Surrounded by mixed oak and rhododendron forests, the lake changes color with the seasons, making it an ideal place for meditation and nature walks.

Mythological Significance:

According to legend, Lord Ganesha chose this place as his abode. The lake is also called ‘Dhundital’ (Ganesh ka Tal or Lake of Lord Ganesha).

It is believed that Goddess Parvati used to bathe here, and this is where Lord Shiva beheaded Ganesha in a fit of anger.

Explore the surroundings, visit the Ganesha Temple, and relax by the lake. Dinner & overnight stay at the camp.

Early morning, trek 5 km (2-3 hrs) uphill to Darwa Top (4,150 m), carrying packed breakfast.

The steep ascent starts along the feeder stream of Dodital, passing through thick birch forests and alpine meadows blooming with Himalayan wildflowers.

At the summit, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Bandarpunch and Swargarohini ranges. This point also serves as the watershed for the Yamuna and Asi Ganga rivers.

After admiring the scenery, descend back to the campsite for a hot lunch. Spend the rest of the day relaxing, sipping tea, exploring the lake, or spotting birds. Dinner & overnight stay at Dodital.

After breakfast, trek 17 km downhill to Agoda, retracing the same route. The descent is much easier and enjoyable. Overnight stay in camp at Agoda.

After breakfast, trek 4 km down to Sangam Chatti, then drive 140 km to Rishikesh.

Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. The evening is free to explore the Ganga River banks, where you can witness the spectacular Ganga Aarti, a mesmerizing ceremony of sights, sounds, and chanting.

Known for its spiritual significance and natural beauty, Rishikesh is flanked by the Shivalik range of the Himalayas. According to legend, after Raibhya Rishi’s intense penance, Lord Vishnu appeared as "Hrishikesh", giving the town its name.

Early morning, transfer to Haridwar railway station to board the train for Delhi. Arrive in Delhi by afternoon.
