Itinerary

Meet our representative at the Kolkata Airport and transfer to the hotel to check-in. Fresh up, have a meal, rest for a while, and explore the neighbourhood in the evening.

Wake up in the 'City of Joy' at the crack of dawn as this capital city radiates appealing liveliness during the early hours. Explore the city on foot till noon.Set out to visit Victoria Memorial after lunch. Victoria Memorial is perhaps the most elegant and grand monument built by Britishers in India. The white marble structure commemorated the continuing rule of Queen Victoria over India. It boasts a grand complex, well-maintained gardens, and a museum. If time allows, visit the Indian Museum, the oldest and the largest museum in the Asia-Pacific region.

In the evening, visit Kalighat Temple. It is the most revered temple in the city, known for its grand and unconventional temple architecture. Kalighat Temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali and is one of 52 Shakti Peethas in Hinduism. Afterwards, transfer to the railway station to board the train for Bhubaneswar.

In the morning, deboard the train at Bhubaneswar and drive to Puri, the holy city on the east coast of India. Check into the hotel and start exploring Puri.

Puri is one of the four holiest places (Char Dham) in India, known for its cultural richness and multitude of beaches. Puri's Jagannath Temple is visited by millions every year and the yearly festival of Rath Yatra (chariot festival) of Puri is one of the most celebrated festivals in the country. Puri also boasts its stretch of coastline that gives it a long eclectic sun-kissed beach called Puri Beach. In the afternoon, Spend a lazy time at Puri Beach basking in the orangish setting sun.

After morning chores, get packed for a drive to Konark, an archaic town known for its architectural masterpiece, the Sun Temple.

The Sun Temple of Konark is a 13th-century stunning religious monument and a UNESCO Heritage Site. This temple was built to worship Surya, the Sun God, which is one of the thirty-three principal deities in Hinduism. Sun Temple of Konark shows the zenith of Odisha temple architecture. The temple is built to depict a colossal chariot which features six horses and twelve sets of wheels, with every inch of it carved into minute details encompassing symbolic designs. There are many more intriguing features present in this temple.In the evening, return to your hotel room in Puri.

Early morning, drive south towards Gopalpur visiting Chilika Lake en-route. Chilika Lake is a vast lagoon which is a host to a highly productive ecosystem. It is Asia's largest brackish water lake and hosts many endangered, vulnerable, and rare species of animals and birds. It hosts over a million birds and surely is a pleasing destination for watching birds in their natural habitat. The lake is also popular for boating and fishing. Afterwards, continue the drive towards Gopalpur and check into the hotel on arrival.

Drive from Gopalpur to Taptapani in the morning.Taptapani is a hot water spring located inside the complex of Kandhuni Devi Temple, which is surrounded for miles by a cluster of hills and thickets of green. Between raw nature, this popular religious attraction is known for its serene atmosphere and wonderful landscapes.

The sulfuric water of the hot spring is believed to have medicinal properties and cure skin problems.

Return in the afternoon and visit the beachline of Gopalpur. Witness the beautiful evening hues of the sky at the beach.

In the morning, drive from Gopalpur to Bhubaneswar, stopping to explore Udaygiri and Khandagiri Caves en-route.

Udaygiri and Khandagiri Caves are a set of ancient man-made caves painstakingly carved by hands and basic tools somewhere around the 2nd century BC. They were built on the Kumari mountain range, secluded from the townships, for Jain monks to stay and meditate. The caves feature carvings that depict various stories from ancient empires.

Afterwards, drive to Bhubaneswar and check into the hotel. Explore the neighbourhood till the dark.

Today, explore the capital city, Bhubaneswar, till the afternoon.Bhubaneswar is monikered 'Temple city of India' for its over 500 temples. Visit popular temples like the Lingaraja Temple, Mukteswara Temple, Ram Mandir, or ISKCON Temple. Apart from the temple, Bhubaneswar is filled with spots for shopping and street food.Afterwards, pack your things to board the train for Kolkata in the evening.

Deboard the train in the morning and transfer to the hotel. Fresh-n-up, have your meal and rest for a while. You have the day to explore what is left of Kolkata.

Kolkata was the centre of the Bengal Renaissance and thus boasts its great collection of art, literature, and history in its museums and cityscape.

After breakfast, we will drive to the port (Jetty) near Sundarban Park. The motor-fitted country boat then takes you to your lodge in Sundarbans.

Sundarban National Park is a verdant mangrove forest that is one of the largest of its kind in the world. It thrives on the rich delta of rivers Ganga and Brahmaputra. The thick forest of Sundarban creates a rich oasis, unharmed by humans. Sundarban is most known for being the only mangrove home to the Bengal Tigers.

In the afternoon, come out to take a peek at the wildlife bustle of Sundarban from the watchtower near your lodge.
