About This Tour
Zanskar, the ancient Buddhist kingdom, hidden deep within the western reaches has many enigmatic wonders flowering underneath and along such fascinations; the impressive trekking along the routes to Lamayuru makes the adventure quite bewildering. Starting from Padum, the Zanskar- Lamayuru trek along the Zanskar River is more exciting than Darcha - Padum as far as the height is concerned.
The whole trek passes over many high passes reflecting the panoramic views of Zanskar Himalayas. For most of the year, the high passes are inaccessible due to heavy snow, making the frozen Zanskar River the only way of crossing the routes with trekking or walking being the only medium. The villages are located on the highest cliffs with flourishing greenest fields to germinate mainly peas and buckwheat. Trekking at Zanskar- Lamayuru ranges also bring some ancient monasteries of Karsha and Thongde along with the feeling of touching the sky at Singi La at an altitude of 5230 mt which is considered as the highest pass of the trek. This famous trek of Zanskar region also let the adventurers explore the 1000 year old murals of Alchi Choskor and one can enjoy the camping benefits at the dramatic rugged locations on the lush meadows and along the great tributaries.
